The Communications Minister was optimistic that this meeting would foster a closer and more intense bilateral relationship between Indonesia and France in information and communication technology.
Indonesia's government appreciates France's support in constructing the National Data Center 1 (PDN-1) this year and launching the Republic of Indonesia Satellite (SATRIA)-1 in 2023.
It was revealed by the Communications Minister, Meutya Hafid, during the official handover of the initial PDN-1 operational phase to the Indonesian government through the Provisional Handover (PHO) scheme by the Minister for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad of the Republic of France, Laurent Saint-Martin, during a bilateral meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 9.
"We deeply appreciate the French government's support in completing the construction of PDN-1 this year and the launch of the SATRIA-1 satellite in 2023," said the Communications Minister at the bilateral meeting.
The meeting was part of a series of preparations for the French president's official visit to Indonesia in late May 2025.
Meutya said that this handover marks a strategic milestone in Indonesian-French bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technology and simultaneously signifies the commencement of the operational commissioning test phase for PDN-1 before its whole operation. The construction of PDN-1 itself began with the groundbreaking ceremony in October 2022.
She emphasized the importance of collaboration in digital technology as a step forward in accelerating digital transformation in both countries.
"The close relationship between the Indonesian and French governments, particularly in digital technology, is concrete evidence of the commitment of both nations to support each other and encourage innovation. With a solid collaboration, we believe that Indonesia and France can achieve progress that will benefit the people of both countries," she explained.
This dialogue aimed to achieve concrete and sustainable results in the future development of Indonesia's digital sector.

Likewise, Minister Laurent Saint-Martin hoped that the long-standing good relations between the two countries would enable them to explore more opportunities for cooperation and ensure that the people of both nations could feel the benefits of technology and innovation.
"France and Indonesia have a strong history of building mutually beneficial relationships. We believe that cooperation in the digital sector will strengthen the exchange of knowledge and innovation that can benefit the people of both countries. This visit is an initial step to bring about real projects that can enhance connectivity and improve the quality of life for their citizens," he concluded.
Several representatives from the Communications and Digital Affairs Ministry were present at the bilateral meeting, including the two vice ministers of the Communications Ministry: Nezar Patria and Angga Raka Prabowo; Director General of Digital Government Technology, Mira Tayyiba; and Director General of Digital Space Monitoring, Alexander Sabar, along with other officials.
On the French side, Minister Saint-Martin was accompanied by the French Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, Fabien Penone, the Head of the Economic Department of the French Embassy in Indonesia, Michel Oldenburg, and several other representatives from the French government.
