Badung, InfoPublik – The development of private tech companies is crucial in people’s lives today. Such development was portrayed in Hollywood movies, particularly in Marvel’s Stark Industries.
In Marvel’s superhero movies, Stark Industries, a private tech company, strengthened superheroes in their fights against supervillains. The support provided by the company allowed the superheroes to prevail against crimes.
“Much like Stark Industries in Marvel’s movies, the presence of the private sector is vital,” said the Minister of Communications and Informatics, Johnny G Plate, in his opening remarks for the Industrial Task Force (ITF) at the 4th Digital Economy Working Group (DEWG) Meeting of the Indonesia G20 Presidency in Bali on Monday (29 August).
According to the minister, digital technology development in Marvel’s movies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), had a significant impact on the struggles of Marvel’s superheroes.
“With the emergence of technological advances, such as driverless cars, advanced robot assistances, and AI-based technologies, they have made us feel like we are living in a science fiction movie,” Minister Johnny said.
Such movies inspire Indonesia to also develop a technology-based private sector starting today. Through ITF in the 4th DEWG meeting, the government, through the Ministry of Communications and Informatics (MCI) took the movies as one of the media in encouraging the development of the private tech sector.
The minister also said that Indonesia aspires to accelerate that development through collaborations between local and international stakeholders.
"Today shows our adventurous future, especially with the presence of the delegations for the 4th DEWG Meeting,” the minister said.
He stated that the ITF event at the 4th G20’s DEWG Meeting is expected to bring innovations to the country’s technological developments. It is expected to demonstrate the creativity of Indonesian entrepreneurs in adopting the technological developments required in their times.
Therefore, the global community is aware of the technological developments adopted by Indonesian entrepreneurs which will open opportunities for future cooperation.
“It plays an integral part in delivering accelerated digital transformation through the creation of life-changing technology and products for us all,” said the minister.
Delegations will continue to discuss the formulation of the G20 Digital Ministers Declaration which will be called as the Bali Package.
The declaration will be finalized by the G20 Digital Ministers at the Digital Economy Ministers Meeting (DEMM) on September 1, 2022. Previously, DEWG has concluded three meetings and several cross-working group meetings to discuss the three priority issues of DEWG.
The Industry Task Force of DEWG will also demonstrate Indonesia’s adoption of technology to the G20 delegations as a form of collaboration between the government and industry.
